Description

The purpose of a heat exchanger is to transfer heat from one fluid stream to another through a corrugated heat transfer plate.
The design is such that the flows through the plate pack alternate. The flows can be controlled as counter-current, co-current or cross-flow.

Structure of Tranp plate and shell heat exchanger:

The shell-and-plate heat exchanger consists of round plates welded into a package, which is then mounted in a Pressure Vessel.

The flow from the plate side is through the connections on the end plates through the plate pack. The flow from the shell side is through the casing connections through the plate pack using a guide flow.
The design can be all-welded or semi-welded. The semi-welded type has a removable cover so that, for example, the plate pack can be removed and cleaned.
