Introduction

The plate and shell heat exchanger is composed of a plate bundle and a shell composed of a plate group. The plate group is welded by argon arc welding or plasma welding.

How does the P&S Heat Exchanger works?

The fluid medium of the plate and shell heat exchanger flows in a pure countercurrent manner inside the plate and shell heat exchanger, which can generate high turbulence and has a terminal temperature difference that other types of heat exchangers cannot achieve;

The plate bundle has no runner holes, all of which are used for heat exchange, and the overall heat exchange efficiency is high;

The diameter of the inlet and outlet nozzles is flexible, which makes the Shell and Plate Heat Exchanger strong adaptability.

The cover can be opened for mechanical cleaning of the flow channel.

Where  can we use the plate and shell heat exhcanger?

An example of an application with a removable shell and Plate Heat Exchanger is the cooling of seawater in a power plant. Seawater is used as a coolant for steam generators. However, seawater contains impurities that can clog the channels of conventional heat exchangers, reducing their cooling efficiency.

In this case, a removable shell-and-plate heat exchanger is used, enabling the plates to be easily cleaned in the event of clogging. Seawater is pumped through the heat exchanger plates, where it is cooled by a cooling fluid circulating in the channels between the plates. The cooling fluid can be fresh water, oil or air, depending on the application requirements.

When the channels between the plates become clogged with impurities, the removable finisher can be removed to clean the plates. This maintains high cooling efficiency and extends the life of the heat exchanger.
