Common materials are carbon steel or stainless steel. The main advantages of the Spiral plate heat exchanger are compact structure and large heat transfer area per unit volume (about three times that of the Shell And Tube Heat Exchanger); the fluid allows a higher flow rate (the liquid can reach 2m/s, Gas up to 20m/s, the degree of turbulence is large, and the heat transfer coefficient is large (about 1 to 2 times that of the tube-and-tube heat exchanger); pure countercurrent operation can be realized; it is not easy to scale and block. Its main disadvantages are that the operating pressure and temperature should not be too high, the fluid flow resistance is relatively large, it is not easy to overhaul, and it has high requirements for welding quality. Therefore, the general operating pressure is lower than 2Okgf/cm2, and the temperature is below 300-400°C.
